KONSTANTYN WIELKI – cesarz rzymski. Przekształcił miasto Bizancjum w Konstantynopol – nową siedzibę cesarza i stolicę cesarstwa. Przeprowadził wiele reform. Był pierwszym cesarzem, który przeszedł na chrześcijaństwo. W 313 r. edyktem mediolańskim uznał chrześcijaństwo za równoprawną religię w państwie.
